It had seemed like such a good idea at the time.

But now, three years later, she and Cash have become friends. They travel together for work often, and they’re the best of buddies.

When Rox gets thrown out of her apartment, Cash insists that she come live with him until they can find her a place because that’s what friends do.

Now, even though everyone insists that Cash never goes after married women, something about him has changed. There are little touches, little slips, and Rox is more and more tempted to tell hunky, gorgeous Cash that she never was married.

And then he’ll take her and break her, and then he’ll walk away, and then she’ll lose her job, and she still hasn’t found a place to live.

And yet, every time he looks at her with mischief in his dark green eyes, every time they’re teasing and it somehow turns into tickling, every time she swats at him and somehow ends up in his arms, she wants so much to risk everything.

    Thank goodness this book was free, I barely made it to the end. The writing was very sophomoric & amateurish. Almost like a teenager wrote this book after watching Steel Magnolias & trying to duplicate the southern vocabulary of the women in that movie, but failed. Sorry but just wasn't up to par for this author.
  • Funny and Unexpected

    Blair Babylon’s done a brilliant job of weaving humor, passion and intrigue into this novel. I expected something more formulaic but she surprises the heroine and the reader with the hero’s antics. It’s wonderful and you should definitely read it today.

    Idk how this got such good reviews. Theres so much wrong with this book... Some of my grievances: This story is beyond long, too long & filled with unnecessary details; however it skimps on the actual bits of the story that are important. This book was repetitive like no other. The constant, obnoxious mention of Casimir's tattoos, having their b!$ch faces on, Rox being a southern girl, Casimir's bandage on his face. I couldn't stop rolling my eyes it was so annoying. The cats. I don't care about all the stupid details about her cats. It's not necessary to know where they are & what they're doing all of the freakin time. Rox getting 'southern' & 'biblical'. I'm sure this was supposed to be a funny character trait but it comes off immature the way she acts. She's a paralegal & a grownup yet she acts like a teenager; it was cringy to read her angry outbursts. It made me think less & less if her character. The flow, or lack there of. A lot of things weren't consistent, the paragraphs bounced around inserting unnecessary paragraphs of needless details. Stay on topic! Something important happens between Rox & Casimir, Rox says she'll take care of it but then there's nothing mentioned about it being resolved. This book was just exhausting to read. For me the romance was lost in all of the random details, & the lack of clarity on a lot of issues. This is a real review unlike the other bs reviews with 5 stars. Not worthy of 3 stars let alone 5.

    Blair does it again with this story! I put this book in my top 3 by this author. Rox and Casimir's story is shorter than my other fav's (Rae & Wulf and Georgie & Xan) but just as developed and descriptive. I see other reviews that go into a lot of detail about the story line so I won't go there. You will want to keep reading this and forgo some sleep just to see how it all turns out. As usual, Blair has a flair for describing people and places that is so detailed you see the movie in your mind. I really appreciate authors who can do that! It's a rare talent.

    I have read all of Blair's books and all were great reads. Working Stiff didn't disappoint. Rox and Casimir are another great couple. Enjoyed reading how their friendship grows, they've both been hiding things from each other. Make a great team together at work. Can't wait for the next book!

    Take one workaholic lawyer who has an upper crust English accent (but is he English?), and who is the office serial dater, his workaholic Southern belle paralegal (is she married or isn’t she?), and you get one sweet book that you won’t want to put down. This is one laugh-out-loud funny book as you'll find out because as you read Casimir's (Cash) and Roxanne's (Rox) story, you are constantly wondering, “Will they or won’t they?"; is Rox married?"; and "What's up with Cash and ghosting?” You know when they finally do get together it will be explosive. Rox has worked for Cash for 3 years and she’s the only paralegal that he can work with and that he wants to work with, in more ways than just work. They travel the world for their jobs and he needs her 24/7. Besides the comradery and “slight” sexual tension between Cash and Rox (hey, he’s her Work Husband and she’s his Work Wife), there is a large whodunit-type storyline that is very well written. As the story moves along, you don’t really know who is behind the nefarious incidents that befall Cash and Rox. I loved reading their story and it went quite quickly, so fast that I couldn't put it down. Blair Babylon is a wonderful writer and I've been enjoying reading her books just to see what happens next.

    Casimir and Roxanne are trying to live a lie. Cash is the office heartbreaker. Rox is determined not to join the throng of hearts that he has broken, so she pretends to be married. She is determined to keep their relationship professional, and he never chases a married woman, so it should be pretty simple, right? It’s not. They have been working with each other for over three years, spending long hours going over files, meeting with clients and other attorneys. They even travel together on a regular basis, without getting involved. They are both trying to keep the “friends” boundary so that they can continue to work together, but it’s getting harder and harder to ignore their feelings. Circumstances change, and they end up living together. Rox loses her apartment because she has been keeping three homely cats. Cash takes all of them in, with the intention of them only being there for a couple of days, but then Cash is involved in a car accident, and Rox and the “Motley Crew” agree to stay and nurse him back to health. Strange things start to happen, and they get sucked into something bigger than either of them had ever imagined. Things aren’t what they seem. Just when you think you have it figured out, there is a new twist, throwing a different light on the story, in true Blair style. This is a fun read for adventure seekers! I received a copy of this story in exchange for an honest review.

    Another fabulous read by author Blair Babylon!! In contrast to her previous works, the plot of “Working Stiff” is a slightly more “sweet” read in comparison to the author’s previously released “slightly more dark and twisty” novels. In saying this though, I am not implying in the least that this book is lacking in any way. It’s not! All of her characters come to life through vivid expression of their hopes and fears. The sex scenes are raw and edgy, dripping with angst for what both Casimir (Cash) and Rox hope will one day exist between them, but at the time currently remains unsaid. From the moment I started to read this book, I simply could not put it down! The plot of this book progresses a lot like the “edging” that Cash and Rox engaged in while visiting the Devilhouse. A slow, halting telling.. twisting in direction just at the moment the reader starts to feel release that they know exactly where the storyline is headed. The author is brilliant at changing up the plot so that as a reader, you are left wondering where exactly the story is heading. There is never anything predictable about Blair Babylon’s novels and this book lives up to this expectation! The author created not only the main characters Cash and Rox, but also the supporting characters (namely Maxence and Authur) so that they contain many fascinating and diverse layers. Just a hint of backstory was provided to leave the reader primed and eager to read future installments in the “Billionaires in Disguise”/”Runaway Billionaires” series telling Authur and Maxence’s stories. I looking forward to seeing how their stories unfold… This book is a standalone novel which does not contain a cliffhanger. ** I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. --- LOVED IT!!!!
